Message from the Principal of
SMB Methodist,Sibu
(Mr. Poh Kee Eng)

Today we commemorate the 50th Anniversary of this school with the official opening of our new building.  It is indeed a historical occasion which will add a golden page to the annals of Methodist Secondary School.

As we look back the 50 years, I cannot help but feel a sense of enormous fulfillment at the development of this school.  God has blessed this school so much that no words can fully express the depths of our gratitude.  From a solitary block, called the Summer's Memorial, the school has grown in size to its present magnificence with eight blocks of buildings. I must acknowledge that this school now possesses most of the basic structural facilities which, over the years, our far-sighted Pastors and leaders of Sarawak Chinese Methodist Church, Board of Management, Old Student's Association, principals and staff have labored and brought into fruition.  Certainly, the students as well as their generous parents and the Sibu society have been unrivaled in their efforts and contributions.  To all our benefactors, thank you very much.  The physical aspect aside, we are also immensely proud of the many professional individuals, leaders and morally upright citizens that have passed through the gates of this premier school.

In conjunction with this Golden Anniversary, we are very honoured and highly motivated by the presence of our Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud who has so graciously consented to officiate the opening of our new school building.  We would also like to express our indebtedness to YB Datuk Wong Soon Koh, who has willingly supported and helped us in so many different ways.

The new millennium will bring on more changes in the area of curriculum development.  Right now the urgency is to be literate in Information Technology.  To this end, we hope to be able to equip our school with the necessary facilities.  Blessed with a fine tradition which is steeped in the spirit of "Seek, Find and Serve", I am sure we would be able to cope with these and many other changes which are inevitable.  Your generous support has and will continue to be the forte of our success.
